Abstract

We analyze and fit the vertical surface brightness distribution at different positions of NGC 4565 and NGC 7814. NGC 4565 and 7814 are two galaxies with different morphology. NCG 4565 is a disk dominated galaxy with a boxy bulge whereas NGC 7814 is a bulge dominated elliptical galaxy . Initially,We have tried to fit the density distributions using sech²(z) function assuming a single stellar population, which we also derived considering the assumptions stated by Spitzer(1942). We take vertical slices at different positions of galaxies and analyze to understand how the vertical density distribution changes as we move away from the center of a galaxy. We decompose the vertical surface brightness distribution by modelling the bulge and disk(s) separately using PROFILER to have deeper understanding. We found that sech²(z) alone can not explain the entire vertical distribution. So, we added other components beside sech²(z) tounveil the true structure of vertical flux density distributions.
