Abstract

The increase in the industrialization and population has resulted in the excessive use of groundwater for drinking and other purposes in the recent years. This has in turn led to leaching of the ores rich in the heavy metals into the water table. There is also a potent increase of the heavy metals due to anthropogenic activities into the environment that requires an immediate check for the safety of the healthy ecological cycle. These aqueous contaminants have posed threat and health implications to the mankind and livestock across our country and world in recent decades. With advancement in time, there have been multiple technologies and methods to remove the contaminants efficiently. But still there exists a lacunae in efficiency, sustainability, and people friendly, cost effective, safer disposal ways, recyclable and less labour for maintence. Advanced oxidation methods such as ozonation, photo catalyst, and photo fenton are costly and uneconomical. The photo-triggered reactions represent a special class as they generally exhibit a finer control of the reaction initiation and duration, together with greater resolution in space and time. Our research work emphasizes mainly on engineering amphiphilic functional polymeric resin as efficient material for removal of aqueous chronic contaminants derieved via thiol-alkyne photo click chemistry. The material grown showed effective interaction to fluoride anions. ¹⁹F NMR, FE-SEM analysis and EDAX analysis supported interaction, Arsenite interaction could also be seen as evidence from FE-SEM and EDAX analysis.
