Abstract
The work is mainly focused on describing various kinds of estimation and data reduction techniques and its applications. We start by the definition of a statistic and then we see that a statistic might give us some information about the parameter. Then we take a look at various kinds of statistics their properties and their applications in different problems. Next we proceed to Point Estimation where we see how we can estimate a unknown parameter by using different statistic. Then we discuss different method of finding estimators and also described how to compare between them. After that we go to Hypothesis Testing and discussed different methods to find hypothesis tests and how to evaluate them. Then we go to Interval Estimation which is in some way a process opposite to Hypothesis Testing. We ended our work with a discussion of Asymptotic Evaluations. Asymptotics is needed when we don’t find any simple solutions to the problems or the data set is infinite. We observe that resolving to asymptotics makes our life easier.
