Abstract
Highly ordered structures from the self-assembly of proteins convert into amyloid fibrils that associated with various neurotoxic diseases in humans. Insulin is related to Type-II diabetes and its amyloidosis was found at the site of insulin injection as well as in clinical formulation In the present study, we used light to control the fibrillation and dissociation using photo-redox reaction. We found that the photo-redox dye Rose Bengal was unable to dissociate the fibrils, whereas a lipidated dye effectively dissociate the insulin fibrils as evidenced by ThT fluorescence, CD spectroscopy. These results may provide a possible way towards therapeutic strategy to prevent or treat insulin amyloidosis.
