Abstract

The thesis is an experimental investigation of the metastable phase in strongly-correlated electronic materials (50% LaNiO₃ + 50% EuNiO₃), which show a hysteretic abrupt phase transition with temperature. The first part of the thesis discusses the design and construction of a cryostat for resistance measurements between 77-300K. And the metastable phase in 50% LaNiO₃ + 50% EuNiO₃ is investigated by studying the temperature dependent first-order reversal curves (FORC) in the second part of the thesis.
