Abstract

BaTiO₃ is a very widely used ferroelectric material having very high dielectric constant. Due to the push towards miniaturization of devices, it becomes necessary to understand the charge carrier dynamics of semiconductor nanoparticles. In this thesis, Ultrafast charge carrier dynamics was studied for two sizes of BaTiO₃ nanoparticles (5nm and 20nm) using nondegenerate pump probe spectroscopy method. Size dependent ferroelectricity was observed. It was found that the electrons decayed using three processes whose time period changes with size.
